ScooterRide 'em, Students!

OSU alumni Malone and Amy Mitchell are offering all current OSU students the chance to win customized scooters in a move that will continue to raise the level of student interest and participation in OSU's winter sports.

The Mitchells, who rank among the university's most generous all-time donors, originally brought the idea to the OSU administration as a way to drive student interest and attendance. (During the 2009-10 season, orange Vespas were given away at all home events in Gallagher-Iba Arena.)

At every basketball game and wrestling event this academic year, student ticket holders will be eligible to win a black Piaggio Typhoon 50, complete with OSU decals. Counting all 2012-13 home men's and women's basketball games and wrestling duals, as many as 40 of the popular scooters will soon be cruising around campus!

"We're grateful to the Mitchells for reaching out to the students through the athletic department," says Mike Holder, Director of Athletics. "They understand that students are the heart of the university, and a great way to keep the students connected to the university after graduation is through athletics."

Students must be currently enrolled at OSU and must be present at the event to win. Click here for more information about the giveaways.

Congratulations to OSU Cowboy & Cowgirl Golf ... both earning tournament titles this week!

The Cowboy Golf team posted a closing 283 during the third round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Tuesday to emerge victorious at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.

It was the Cowboys' first victory since the 2011 NCAA Colorado Regional. Individually, OSU's Ian Davis posted a closing 71 to tie for medalist honors with Iowa's Ian Vandersee.

The OSU Cowgirls were declared champions of The Landfall Tradition women's golf tournament early Sunday after Hurricane Sandy dumped heavy rain overnight on the Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nicklaus course in Wilmington, N.C.

It's the first Landfall title for the Cowgirls in the 11-year history of the event. OSU senior Kelsey Vines finished second after posting a 69.

Congratulations are also in order for OSU Cross Country ... The top-ranked Cowboys captured their fifth-straight Big 12 title last weekend, dominating the field.
As a result, head coach Dave Smith earned his fifth conference coach of the year award.

OSU solidified its No. 1 ranking in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll.

The Cowgirl XC team also had a strong showing in Austin, finishing 2nd in the conference meet, matching their highest finish in school history. The women's squad is currently ranked 21st nationally.

Next up for the squad: NCAA Regionals, set for Nov. 9 in Springfield, Mo. Fans can try to keep up with OSU's harriers via Facebook and Twitter @Run4Okstate.
